A Ray of Sun

Darkest of dark . . . Deepest of depression . . .

Eyes devoid of emotions,

Like ice on the window pane.

So much fear inside, kept locked up tight

Chaos would be rampant but I am numb to the pain.

The insane can’t be blamed, only the one who doused the flames.

Tells of abuse and horrors go unspoken . . .

Every day my will is broken.

Voices of loved ones can’t break the ice

or filter through the lies.

Like falling down the rabbit’s hole,

Deeper and deeper I go.

Until one day a bright ray of sun started shining in the darkness.

An unknown voice saying follow me . . .

The pace is slow and the road is full of holes, bumps, and blind corners.

Still searching for the voice that is my reason . . .

And thankful for every day that has been given.

While I may not know what is in my future, my past will not be repeated.
